Purpose

Our purpose is to train students at the Master / Ph.D. / PostDoc level in the framework of our common research program concerning angiographic and mammographic imaging with silicon detectors.

Procedure

Our Network has been approved by the European Commission for a 3-year programme under ALFA sub-programme B: Scientific and Technical Training: Post-Graduate and Student mobility, short courses for researchers. The effective period is from November 2002 until November 2005. The network's acronym is PIBMCC, the E.C. code is II-0042 FA (the contract number is AML/B7-311/97/0666/II-0042FA). The GUIDELINES for execution of the project are stated in the Official E.U. ALFA GUIDELINES (dated 3 april 2002). This is a short and so far incomplete summary of how it should work:

Any amendment to the project (like change of activities, extension of contract for a maximum of 18 months) must be submitted to the E.C. at least 3 months in advance (see pages 22-23 of the GUIDELINES). If not, we must stick to our budget, as listed in the "Budget documents" section.
The total budget (98,000 EUR) must be provided in part by the E.C. (73,500 EUR) and in part by our Institutes (24,500 EUR). We must establish, year by year, how to share the cost of each item (travel, subsistence, ...) between one or more Institutes and the E.C. fund.
The E.C. funds will flow through the Dipartimento di Fisica Sperimentale of the Università di Torino. The administrative secretary is Denise Huguenin (e-mail dfs@to.infn.it). At the moment (Feb. 6, 2003) there are no funds yet, but we expect soon to receive 70% of the first year budget, i.e. approximately 19,000 EUR.
We must establish the procedure for making payments and for accounting them. In any case, all documents concerning travel expenses and so on should be sent to Torino.
Concerning grants for students, we must confirm our schedule (see below), and then each Institution should select the student(s) for each grant. See the model for selection notice (in english and in italian) below. It is important to consider the time needed by the student to get entry visa in Europe, which could be as long as 3 months.
Concerning the mobility of students and tutors/professors, we have prepared two Mobility Forms which should be used for reimbursement claims (see below).
We must also confirm (or modify) our schedule for meetings (see below).
The payment of the remaining E.C. contribution is subject to technical and financial reports which we have to submit (see pages 24-26 of GUIDELINES).
