Figure 1
The present position and size of the SDD patch panels is shown in the following two picures.
The angular position and the size of the front face (towards ITS) have been revised during the
March/04 Alice week (ref)
The front faces (towards ITS) of the patch panels have Z= -1020 mm (according
to this EDMS document , approved by the TB on Jan.27, 2003).
This Z-position avoids clashes during the dismounting of the
temporary support used to install the third cone (carrying the FMD1)
and the SPD before they are fixed to the ITS
cone .
(from this file , by P.Barberis, dated March 24, 2003).
Figure 2
The routing of the pipes along the external (to ITS) surface of the SDD and SSD cones is shown
in the following picture (ref.).
The labels "Exx" refer to pipes serving the end-ladder electronics associated
to the ladder xx, the labels "Lxx" refer to pipes serving the front-end hybrids of the ladder
xx. The labels "Sec. y-w" refer to the cooling section y of the layer w. There are 7 identical
cooling sections for the layer 3, each serving two ladders/end-ladders. There are 6 cooling sections
for the layer 4, five of them serve four ladders/end-ladders while the sixth serve two ladders/end-ladders.
The polyurethane pipes
(TU0425)
from the ladders inlets or outlets up to the Y-unions have ID/OD = 2.5mm/4.0mm and bending radius of 10mm.
The polyurethane pipes
(TU0604)
from the end-ladders inlets or outlets up to the Y-unions have ID/OD = 4.0mm/6.0mm and bending radius of 15mm.
All the polyurethane pipes from the Y-unions up to the patch panels are of type
TU0604
too.
The centers of the Y-unions are located at a radius of 350mm and at Z=-699mm from the interaction point; therefore they are
out of the FMD1 acceptance cone. Their model number is KJU04-06 and KJU06-00 for the ladders and the end-ladders respectively.
A description of their material used for the Y-unions and details of their dimensions can be found
here.
