The Quark Gluon Plasma as a "many-body" system : various aspects of the Hard-Thermal-Loop approximation.
Phenomenology of heavy-ion collisions and signatures of deconfinement, in particular study of the "hard probes" of the medium produced in relativistic nucleus-nucleus collisions. Recently also the hydrodynamic modeling of the medium for the study of soft observables.
Heavy-quarks: microscopic evaluation of their transport coefficients and study of their stochastic dynamics in the Quark Gluon Plasma at RHIC and LHC conditions. Predictions for the final momentum-spectra of heavy-flavour hadrons and their decay-electrons. Current activity is focused on the modeling of the heavy-quark hadronization in the presence of a medium (and on its effect on the final observables) and on the interaction of D mesons in the hadronic phase.
Quarkonia:
Euclidean correlators, spectral functions and free-energies of heavy-quarks and quarkonia in the Quark Gluon Plasma;
First-principle evaluation of an effective quark-antiquark interaction in the plasma accounting for the effects of screening and collisions.
Comparison with what found in lattice-QCD simulations and in the experiment (charmonium suppression in nucleus-nucleus collisions).
High-pT particles: gluon radiation due to the interaction of high-energy partons, produced in hard events in the initial stage of the nuclear collisions, with the surrounding medium. In particular, study of coherence effects and of the color flow. Facing the present and forthcoming experimental data of jets in heavy-ion collisions.
Viscous relativistic hydrodynamics: I'm part of the ECHO-QGP project, which has led to the first viscous relativistic hydrodynamic code for the italian heavy-ion community. My role so far was mainly focused on the implementation of the EOS, on the modelling of the initial conditions in A-A, p-A and d-A collisions -- accounting in particular for the event-by-event fluctuations within a Glauber-MC setup -- and on the validation of the code through the comparison with special analytic results.
QGP lectures: a set of lectures for the PhD students from the University of Torino

"Aperiscienza in Barriera": a series of scientific happy-our, with informal presentations by a scientist followed by a discussion with the public, drinking beer/wine and eating some good food
"Clima ed energia": a discussion on climate changes and energetic choices at the PD section of Via Cervino 0 (8th April 2016)
Simple lectures and experiments on fluid-mechanics, thermodynamics and optics given at the junior high-school "Antonio Vivaldi" (fluids1, fluids2, light)
